How to Pick Your Own Bridesmaid Dress

More and more brides are letting their wedding attendants choose their own wedding attire instead of up to the bride. However, when choosing a bridesmaid dress, it is important to keep the bride not only in mind, but informed.

Since the bride most likely will have the color chosen for you, the fun part is left up to you. Decide if you want a long or short dress and then go from there. Typically, with respect to the formality of a wedding, a longer dress is a better choice. However, if you decide against a floor-length skirt, don't go shorter than above the knee. No matter how casual the setting, weddings are meant to be a classy affair.

Add embellishment or accessories, but go light on both. For a wedding, don't be adding on so much sparkle that you outshine the bride. A crystal cuff or a pair of chandelier earrings or always a good wedding accessory. Don't be afraid to go strapless or one shoulder either.

When you are given the freedom to choose your own bridesmaid dress, don't waste the opportunity to buy something you really love and something that you can potentially wear again.
