Bridesmaid's Dress for Your Friend

Even though the bride has the final say on how her bridesmaids are to look, she must also be considerate towards their thoughts and feelings. If the movie Bridesmaids has taught us anything, it is to be mindful of others particularly their financial situation. In the scene where the group is shopping for the bridesmaid dress, most bridesmaids are willing to wear whatever the bride wants as it is her special day. However if a bridesmaid disagrees or is just not comfortable wearing a gown that she feels doesn't suit her, then the bride must be willing to compromise.

When choosing the colour and style of the bridesmaid gown, the bride must also consider how suitable these choices are for her bridesmaids. There is the option of wearing the same colour gown in different styles to suit the individual bridesmaid. For example there are three bridesmaids wearing blue dresses; one can be styled as a V-neck, the other a one shoulder and the other as strapless. A bride may provide her bridesmaids with several dress options and let them decide which one they feel most comfortable with. There is no set rule for what colour a bridesmaid's dress should be, as long as the groomsmen's ties matches it.

The bride must also discuss with her bridesmaids the option of buying their gowns. Some bridal shops have bridesmaid gowns available; if not they may be able to recommend an affiliate bridesmaid dresses shop.
