Games for Bridesmaids and Groomsmen

Your bridesmaids and groomsmen are in charge of making your wedding day as perfect as it can be. They throw your bachelor parties, calm your jitters, help you get ready, toast your happiness, and rock out by your side all night long. But bridesmaids and groomsmen also have to work together.

As a cohesive team, they're a powerful force, but if they're uncomfortable with each other, they might not be quite so well oiled. In many cases, the bridesmaids and groomsmen are friends from separate circles. Instead of having them all meet for the first time at your rehearsal dinner or on your wedding day, plan some events to break the ice beforehand. Here are some fun getting-to-know-you ideas for your posse.

A Pre-Wedding Field Day
This is an epic event and it's a chance for everyone to let loose, get competitive, and have some raucous fun when the stakes are low. You can pit the women against the men or, to promote togetherness, mix up the teams so everyone has to interact. Think of it as a mini Olympics with lots of relay events. Egg and ring tosses, relay races, three-legged races, and other games where people have to communicate and work together are ideal. After the events, provide a delicious spread of sandwiches, barbeque, and beer. By the end of your pre-wedding games, your wedding parties will be one big happy family.

The Shoe Game
This is a popular wedding game but it also works well as a pre-wedding icebreaker. Set up two chairs, back to back, and have two people who know each other sit in the chairs. To start, you should sit in one and have your bridesmaids sit in the other. Then have a third person ask questions like: "who is the better dresser," or "who is the better driver." If you think the answer is you, hold up your shoe. If the answer is your friend, hold up hers. You can't see what the other person is answering but everyone else can. It's a recipe for hilarity and a great chance for everyone to get to know each other's personalities.
